Totally agree. I expected the ability to shut down / restart from the get go. It's nearly a daily task and one that I wouldn't mind help with as I put things away, even if it needs touch/click confirmation to avoid spamming.

Just please have this be the Windows version of Cortana and not the Halo version. :(

Love this idea--and I think it's beautifully implemented in the Behance link below. The opacity is just about perfect.

Also, notice Bing Vision being put back in? I'd love to see it back, too!

Love this idea of Cortana asking things. We frequently give input to Cortana, but personal assistants *definitely* ask things when appropriate. Giving information about getting to your next meeting is a great starting place to carefully expand out from.

This could be a toggle-able feature to have Cortana ask you questions. On her page, she could playfully animate and then state that she has a question for you--or it could just have a place to begin typing in / speaking a response.

    Obviously major privacy issues here.

One way of implementing this would be to let *users* tap on Cortana to give *her* a chance to ask a question. Along with this, I'd love for Cortana to be able to remember locker combinations for me, etc. so that I don't need to and can just access my "lockbox" to get that information at any time.

Cortana should be able to do this with *any* piece of contact information: Platforms and Productivity, peeps. :)

Add Bing Vision (though not necessarily labeled as such) onto Cortana's home screen (it would be interesting if she were ever just integrated onto the Start Screen: no need to go to "her" screen, just see what she has to say proactively in a feed on your Start Screen (particularly on tablet/PC) and then hit the Search button (on Phone, Windows button on Computer... that's not confusing) simply to trigger a conversation.

As far as this feature goes, this could be extended to
    "Take a picture of this"
Take a video (of what I've been seeing for the last 15 seconds)
Scan this code (automatically barcode, QR, etc.)

I'd love to see Bing Vision simply integrated into the camera. Just turn on your camera and if a QR code is identified, have Cortana show you that you can follow it or dismiss it if you just want to take a picture. Make this process more seamless. You could eventually have it see that it's seeing a QR code, even if you're not in the camera and make it possible to take action immediately, but that could get into privacy issues, though they're probably already there.

There could be a lot of very fun things to do here, including taking down messages that could then be relayed to the phone's owner, directing them to voice mail. This could even be extended by sending that person's phone SMS messages to trigger other actions like opening an email with their address in it, or a text message with their number. Or, if Cortana comes to other operating systems, creating other ways of interacting on the fly in that kind of a situation. Analyze what a secretary/administrator would do for someone in this situation, the different functions they might take, and then put those into play.

If this could be logistically/organizationally possible, it would be amazing.

Totally agree here. I'd love to see Cortana have a "lockbox" where she stores in an open fashion my passwords for all of my applications (NOT just websites) so that she can easily sign in for me, but also let me delete passwords when I want to.

This could also be extended to real life by letting her remember locker combinations, bike combos, etc. I can just say, "Cortana, remember that my {bike combo} is 63456" and then at any point, I can go into my lockbox and see it or just ask, "Hey, Cortana (She wakes up and responds... :), what's the combo for my bike lock?" By default, she could simply say, "Here it is... Just take a look at the screen. Want me to read it out loud?" And then just *display* the combo on the screen so as to keep things more secure.

These could then be updateable with, "Hey, Cortana: update my bike lock combo to 55574". "Done!" "Thanks, Cortana!" No problem!

I think this is huge: ambient activation of Cortana with contextual awareness based upon your current Scenario. Talk about huge. Make it so that the developer process requires good accessibility coding (naming of fields, etc.) so as to make it easy for Cortana to do work or to guess the work that needs to be done across the entire OS and in any application. Huge. Just a, "Hey, Cortana: can you enter my personal information in here?"
